PHIL BATES SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS 2013-2014
The Southern California Section of the Institute of Food Technologists (SCIFTS) will offer scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year. The awards will provide financial assistance to High School, Undergraduate and Graduate Students who are attending or planning to attend a college or university in the SCIFTS geographical area (Southern California) majoring in Food Science. $1,000 (minimum) grants will be awarded to qualified students who are attending any college or university and are working toward a degree in food technology, food science/Culinology®, or a related field. Scholarship awards will be given to graduate and undergraduate students attending both IFT and non-IFT approved programs. APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 8, 2013

Student Travel Grants Available For IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo! Travel grants are available from SCIFTS to attend the 2013 IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo in Chicago, Illinois July 13-16, 2013. Grants pay for travel and hotel expenses, up to $500/student. Meals are not reimbursed. Fifteen (15) grants are available to students this year. Grant recipients pay for all applicable expenses up front, and then submit expense reports with a copy of all receipts by July 26, 2013 to the Student Affairs Committee Chair, for submission to the SCIFTS treasurer who will mail the reimbursement checks to the recipients. Applications can be obtained through SCIFTS website or through an e-mail request to committee Chair (see contact information below). Applications must be received by SCIFTS Student Affairs Committee Chair by April 26, 2013, and must be signed by the department head or major professor to verify status as registered student.
